F.A.Q.

Who can take driving lessons at Beach City Driving Schools?
We provide professional driving lessons for teens, adult beginners, seniors, nervous drivers, and licensed drivers needing refresher training. Lessons are tailored to each student's age, experience, and individual goals.

Do you offer an online permit test prep course?
Yes. We offer an online permit test preparation course designed to help new drivers of all ages succeed. Our program supports students from start to finish, beginning with the online permit test preparation course and continuing through behind-the-wheel driving lessons.

Are your programs all-inclusive, or are there additional fees?
Yes. All of our programs are fully all-inclusive. We do not charge additional fees for certificates, fuel, insurance, or pickup and drop-off services—there are no hidden or surprise charges.

The only potential fees are:
● A $50 cancellation fee for lessons canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice
● A $75 refund processing fee if you cancel your driving program before your first lesson is scheduled.

Once your first driving lesson has been scheduled, all purchases become non-refundable.

How long is the wait for my first driving lesson?
Typically, we are booked about two weeks in advance. During peak seasons, such as summer, availability may be 4–6 weeks out. We recommend enrolling as early as possible to secure your preferred timeframe.

Do I need a driving permit to take lessons?
Yes. The California DMV requires all students to obtain a valid driving permit before beginning behind-the-wheel driving lessons.

Are your driving instructors licensed and insured?
Yes. All instructors are California DMV-licensed, professionally trained, background-checked, and fully insured.

Do you provide door-to-door pickup and drop-off?
Yes. We offer convenient pickup and drop-off from home for every lesson.

What type of vehicles are used for driving lessons?
We use modern, clean vehicles equipped with dual brake controls, dash cams, and dual rearview mirrors, ensuring a safe and controlled learning environment.

How long is each driving lesson?
Lessons are typically 90 minutes or 2 hours, depending on the selected package.

How many driving lessons will I need?
The number of lessons needed varies depending on each student’s experience and confidence level. Students who practice between lessons with a qualified friend or family member may require fewer sessions than those without regular practice opportunities. Your instructor will provide personalized recommendations based on your progress.

According to DMV studies, it typically takes 50–60 hours of practice to become a safe, confident, and test-ready driver.

Do you help students prepare for the DMV driving test?
Yes. We offer DMV road test preparation, including mock exams, skills evaluation, and guidance to help students pass with confidence.

Can I use your car for my DMV driving test?
Yes, subject to eligibility, availability and an additional fee, students may be able to use our vehicle for their DMV road test.

Do you offer lessons for nervous or anxious drivers?
Yes. We specialize in working with nervous, fearful, or first-time drivers, using calm instruction and gradual skill-building to increase confidence.

Are weekend driving lessons available?
Yes. We offer flexible scheduling, including weekends, to accommodate busy schedules.

What areas do you serve?

How do I schedule driving lessons?

To ensure clear communication and meet California DMV requirements, all scheduling is handled in writing via email. We do not schedule lessons over the phone.
